Red Fig
Crystal Group Inc. has contributed to the world’s
first Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) mass media voting system to be used in
the broadcasting industry. Red Fig (London, England), a pioneer in providing
multi-platform interactive applications to leading broadcasters throughout the
UK, is unveiling this system for their client, Granada, the largest independent
media company in the UK commercial television sector.
Crystal servers are hosting the LOGLOS™ Gateway voice processing system
developed by Red Fig. A Red Fig LOGLOS™ Gateway system has been used by
Granada to enable viewers to decide the top ten hits that were played by Sir
Elton John, live in concert in New York City and also broadcast as ‘Elton John’s
Greatest Hits Live!’, on March 16th 2002. The
hardware and software is capable of processing voice inputs from callers that
respond to each on-air advertisement for the concert.
Red Fig selected Crystal servers for their state-of-the-art LOGLOS™ Gateway
for several reasons, including reliability, performance, compact space
requirements for co-location, quick-swap capability, network and design
consulting, and responsive technical support.
The Crystal hardware, including their Model CS1000 and Model CS300 computers,
is fully remotely manageable using Crystal-supplied hardware and software, thus
allowing the co-location point to be totally unmanned. This both reduces the
cost of ownership, and is a critical part of the distributed design of the
LOGLOSTM Gateway solution.
Crystal Group Inc. also provides Red Fig with individualized network design
and consulting services, logistics support, installation assistance, and
management services. Crystal’s combined offerings eased the design,
implementation, installation, and operation of Red Fig’s LOGLOS™ Gateway system.
Crystal’s engineering staff worked across disciplines and manufacturers’
boundaries in doing such things as properly configuring Cisco routers and
switches, and setting up security and management policies in LOGLOS™ Gateway
equipment. John McCullough, Red Fig's Product Deployment Manager, says "We chose
Crystal Group Inc. equipment because they were able to satisfy our detailed
requirement for telecom grade equipment."
